                                             Ghosts of the Past

     "Mr. Fuji, don't go!"

"Team Rocket has to be stopped – I will not strike a deal with them this time!"

The old man from Lavender Town was quite agile in getting to the Pokemon Tower, and he quickly ascended the stairs. There was a strange presence in the tower, and all the pokémon seemed to be going crazy. Upon reaching the top old man Fuji was captured and held hostage for not cooperating with Team Rocket. Fuji stuck to his declaration – this time, Team Rocket wouldn't hold control over him.
He was rescued by a young trainer with a Pikachu, and he thanked them for saving this town – the presence was now gone. On one of his daily walks around the tower he heard a soft crying. Slowly approaching the sound he saw a small tan pokémon, a bloody skull sitting on its head and a bloody bone in its hand. Fuji saw that it was a female Cubone, and he knew her mother's ghost had been calmed and sent on – a memory passed through his mind. He felt the sudden need to take care of this poor pokémon; and so he took her in, washing her off and calming her tears.

"Do not be frightened, little one. Your mother is in a better place, just as my daughter is."

Time passed, and the Pokemon Tower was turned into a Radio Tower. This sent poor old Mr. Fuji into a depression, knowing that every single grave had been violated – not only pokémon were buried in this town. The Cubone, now a Marowak, saw the sadness in his eyes – but no longer felt any sadness of her own. She watched as trainers came and went, talking with Fuji and learning the history of the town, but she had yet to learn of his own history. Why did the old man choose to stay here, even now as the tower was gone?

Soon, no trainers came to visit old man Fuji. Every youngster nowadays was in Hoenn, or even Sinnoh. He was all alone, in a ghost of a town.
And that's when a knock came at the door.
A tall figure stepped into the doorway, its tail whipping back and forth, its eyes glowing a soft blue.
Mr. Fuji didn't even turn around.

"I was wondering when you would come for me."

Its eyes narrowed, and Marowak suddenly understood. She felt no remorse for the old man, and turned her back on him. He knew now that he truly was alone in the world, and that everything he loved had left him. Fuji let one more piece of advice slip from his lips to the ears of his second daughter.

"It's not the ghosts in this town you have to fear, it's the ghosts of the past."

Marowak left, a sense of happiness overcoming her; Mother was watching over her, she didn't need to be afraid anymore. The Marowak set off into the world, seeing everything for the first time.
The pokémon in the doorway focused his attention back on the old man.

     "I remember everything, Doctor."

Was all he said, before raising his arm, blue energy outlining it. Mr. Fuji closed his eyes.

"Yes, I understand. I am sorry for my wrongs against you, Mewtwo."

Psychic tore through the inside of the old man, blood spraying all over the little house. He was ripped apart from the inside.

     I'm coming, Amber…

-The next day it was found that the house of Mr. Fuji was burned to the ground. The only thing that survived the fire was one manila folder, discovered to contain a picture of a younger Mr. Fuji, a woman suspected to be a previous wife, and a little girl suspected to be a daughter. There were also pictures of a laboratory and a few burnt pictures that were indistinguishable for the most part – but blue eyes were apparent among what looked like flames. When an attempt was made to find the woman and little girl for questioning, it was found that both were dead – the woman had killed herself shortly after divorcing Fuji, and the daughter had been dead beforehand.
So I discovered that Mr. Fuji in Lavender Town and Dr. Fuji in the Mewtwo movie may be the same person. It hasn't been proven, but I really like the idea.

It's not my best, I admit, but I still like it.

Notes:

-Cubone, who had lost her mother, was like a second daughter to Fuji
-Upon realizing what Fuji had done, the Marowak left him and went out into the wild
